Erasmus +

The EU funding programme for education, training, youth and sport

The field of sport with a focus on grassroots sports was included in the EU funding programme in 2014.

This made it possible to provide targeted funding for grassroots sports activities, cooperation partnerships and European non-profit sports events.

The provision of around EUR 265 million for sports at EU level during the period from 2014 to 2020 means on the one hand that sports activities can be funded, and on the other hand that common European objectives can be promoted. These include the preservation of integrity in sport, combating cross-border threats such as match-fixing and doping, and all kinds of intolerance and discrimination. They also comprise the furtherance of equal opportunities, the promotion of dual careers by sportspeople and good governance in sport.

The successor programme Erasmus+ 2021-2027 is currently being discussed.

The decision on the allocation of funding for Erasmus+ for the coming seven years can only be taken when there is a consensus about the next multi-year financial framework.

In the field of education, the Erasmus+ programme is overseen by OeAD-GmbH and in the field of youth by the Interkulturelles Zentrum - Jugend in Aktion.

The submission of project applications is only possible via the Participant Portal.
